With a killer score full of Alicia’s biggest hits, incredible choreography, and a story inspired by her life, this musical brings a fresh, high-energy vibe to Broadway. And at the heart of that groove? Jaylen Petinaud, holding down the drum chair every night.
So, how did he land this gig?
At 26 years old, Jaylen is already one of the most in-demand drummers out there. He’s played with legends like Herbie Hancock, Keyon Harrold, Kenny Garrett, and Terrance Blanchard. He’s been on NPR’s Tiny Desk, The Metropolitan Opera, The Public Theater, and toured the world with some of the best musicians in the business. His playing is versatile, musical, and always in the pocket—exactly what a show like Hell’s Kitchen needs.
Jaylen grew up in Brooklyn, playing in church before sharpening his skills at LaGuardia High School and SUNY Purchase. Over the years, he built a reputation as a drummer who can play anything and make it feel good. That’s what got him noticed—and that’s what got him the call for Hell’s Kitchen.
