Influences and Inspiration - Paul Hines

Paul Hines is one of the many drumming influences that inspired me in my formative years. I have so many to talk about but I realized I was inspired by a man very few actually know very well.

A colleague recently mentioned in a conversation that the drummer on the song Chains by Teena Marie was Paul Hines. He thinks he’s one of the most underrated drummers of the early ’80s and I began to realize he was on so many of my favorite recordings from that era. He’s been one of my favorite drummers for over 30 years, and I never knew it.
