Why Is the AirTurn TAP Is A Game Changer for Drummers?
Say Goodbye to Sheet Music Chaos.
For decades, I was like almost everyone else. I read scores on paper and made changes with a pencil during rehearsals. I remember the grind: subbing for shows, getting handed a 500-page drum book from the chair-holder, heading to a place called Kinko’s to photocopy it, and returning the originals. Then, I’d go home, spread the pages out, and start marking everything up with pencils, highlighters, and sticky notes to make sure every detail was locked in. That was life for years—until the iPad came along.
I wasn't ready to make the switch when the iPad started showing up at rehearsals and gigs. I’d see musicians using them and wonder what the big deal was. But once I finally took the leap, it was like discovering fire. You know that feeling when you figure out how to use some new piece of tech, and you ask yourself, How did I ever live without this? The iPad, paired with the ForScore app, did that for me.
But there was one thing that still bugged me: turning pages. Even on an iPad, I’d have to reach up mid-song to swipe the screen, just like flipping paper pages. It was a hassle, especially in the middle of a complicated or very long song. That’s when Quinton Robinson introduced me to the AirTurn TAP, and let me tell you—it changed everything.
